H2Tech: Global Projects Data

Gulf Energy Information’s Global Energy Infrastructure (GEI) database is tracking more than 1,420 active H2 projects globally. Nearly half of these projects are in Western Europe. The region has passed numerous incentive mechanisms to boost the use of green H2 in nearly all areas of the region’s economy (e.g., refining and chemical processing, power generation, heating, steelmaking, shipping, transportation). Western Europe is followed by Asia and the U.S. In total, these three regions account for 80% of active H2 project market share. When analyzed by production pathway, 96% are through a low- or zero-carbon pathway—i.e., blue or green H2.
