Gulf Energy Information’s Global Energy Infrastructure (GEI) database is tracking more than 1,420 active hydrogen (H2) projects globally. These projects account for > $2 T in capital investments globally. Most active H2 production projects use a green pathway (via renewable power and electrolysis), followed by a blue production pathway (fossil fuels with carbon capture technology). When analyzed by activity level, < 10% of active H2 projects are under construction. Most projects (69%) are still in the planning/proposed stage, followed by feasibility study.
