Howden has signed a framework agreement with Nel Hydrogen Electrolyzer to supply hydrogen compressor solutions to its electrolyzers.

Howden’s compression solution matches Nel’s electrolyzers’ requirements, relative to hydrogen production and is an important step towards achieving Nel’s cost target of green hydrogen production at USD 1.5/kg. The two companies will work closely together to develop cost competitive hydrogen compressor systems for Nel’s electrolysers.

The initiative is supporting the European Union’s Hydrogen Strategy and its ambition to install at least 6GW of renewable hydrogen electrolyzers in the EU by 2024 and at least 40 GW by 2030.
