Siemens Energy, Uzbekistan to collaborate on H2

Siemens Energy and Uzbekistan signed an MOU for future joint development projects, including hydrogen energy.

The MOU, which expresses collaboration on a number of projects in line with Uzbekistan meeting its climate management commitments, is planned to yield immediate activity during 2021, with agreements anticipated for developing hydrogen and renewable energy by the summer.

Cooperation between the parties is anticipated in:

  • Projects to build new generating facilities
  • Power audit facilities in Uzbekistan with to introduce of energy-efficient technologies
  • Hydrogen energy and
  • Training of personnel

In particular, the roadmap includes projects to:

  • Introduce cogeneration technologies on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) principles
  • Construction of a new thermal power plant (TPP) with a capacity of 1300-1600 MW
  • Participate in the modernization of the Hajabad compressor station; and
  • Create innovative training centers
