Air Products, Stadtwerke Hürth to build an H2 filling station in Germany

Air Products and Stadtwerke Hürth have signed an agreement to build and operate a new hydrogen filling station. The petrol station will be built on the site at Bonnstrasse 232 below the specialist retail center Eschweiler Strasse.

In addition to the buses and waste vehicles from Stadtwerke Hürth, it should also offer third parties the opportunity to refuel their vehicles with hydrogen. Accordingly, the filling station will be designed in such a way that it will be possible to refuel at pressures of 350 and 700 bar. Air Products will not only build the plant, but will also take over the entire operation including the supply of the hydrogen. The opening is planned for 2022.

"Thanks to our experience, we can design, construct and build petrol stations in such a way that they really meet the needs of our customers. As the owner of the petrol station in Hürth, we take over the entire operation and maintenance," said Jörg Hömberg, Managing Director of Air Products GmbH based in Hattingen. "This concept enables companies to easily enter the world of hydrogen mobility. We make this technology available without our customers having to become experts themselves."
