Linde Engineering supplies Europe's most powerful H2 refueling station for trucks to MPREIS

Austrian food retailer MPREIS started up Europe's most powerful H2 refueling station for trucks in Voels, Austria. It was designed and built by Linde Engineering, and it can refuel four trucks per hour, the actual refueling takes only ten minutes per truck. This is comparable to the time needed to refuel a diesel truck. In ten minutes only, 40 kilograms of H2 can be delivered, which is equal to approximately 400 liters of diesel fuel. The new station will supply MPREIS’ own fleet of fuel-cell trucks with green H2 produced on site. This H2 approach will contribute to decarbonizing the food retailer’s operations.

"The hydrogen refueling station sets a new gold standard for speed while maintaining the same Linde Engineering commitment to safety. Here we have implemented a number of innovations, including a new standardized refueling protocol for trucks. From our point of view, integrated generation, refueling, and distribution of hydrogen is a future-proof concept," said Alexander Unterschuetz, Senior Vice President Components at Linde Engineering.

“The conversion of our truck fleet to fuel cell vehicles, which are refueled with green hydrogen at our own filling station in Völs, is a real milestone. This will make us the first medium-sized company in Austria to start supplying our food markets CO2-neutral and emission-free,“ explained MPREIS Managing Director Peter Paul Mölk.
