SFC Energy AG opens competence centers for H2 fuel cells in Canada

SFC Energy AG, a leading supplier of H2 and methanol fuel cells for stationary and mobile hybrid power solutions, has opened two competence centers for H2 fuel cell technology in Calgary and Toronto. Product demonstration and testing capabilities as well as Application Engineering expertise will accelerate application-based R&D and bring together customers and H2 experts in a modern space.

The new location in Toronto will serve as a sales and service center to further enhance SFC's presence in Eastern Canada and the industrial base of Ontario. Together with its long-term partner Schneider Electric, SFC is also offering their entire automation and instrumentation product range to customers.

Canada has a long tradition in H2 (fuel cell) technology and is a leader in this field. In addition, the Canadian government recently announced a massive incentive program of $58.8 B in tax credits for clean technology over the next decade, including $18.38 B for investments in clean electricity.

Companies find a very attractive environment there, combining a strong H2 technology base with customers open to innovation and clear government support for the energy transition. This combination has prompted SFC Energy to open a center of competence in the Canadian province of Ontario, in addition to its headquarters in Calgary.

“For SFC Energy, Canada has been a home market for decades. As a technology pioneer together with a loyal and long-term customer base in Energy, Mining and other Industrial sectors, we have established fuel cells as a new industrial standard for sustainable energy generation enabling energy transition. Here we find both customers who are open to innovation and the energy transition, a long tradition in H2 and fuel cell technology, and governments at all levels (federal and provincial) who support it. With our new presence in Toronto, we are strengthening our partnership with Schneider Electric in the industrial markets, addressing new customer groups for our H2 products for example in Telecom, and strengthening our North American business overall,” said Dr. Peter Podesser, CEO of SFC Energy AG.
