Ansaldo Energia signs the contract for the Reconstruction of Almaty CHPP-3 project in Kazakhstan

Ansaldo Energia's collaboration with the Kazakh Republic is growing not only industrial support for the construction of new power plants, but also the creation of a technology exchange hub.

Two AE94.2 gas turbines, two generators and all associated auxiliary services: this is the object of the contract signed by Stefano Gianatti, Executive Vice President New Units of Ansaldo Energia, in the presence of the CEO of Ansaldo Energia, Fabrizio Fabbri, and Adilbek Sergaliyev, CEO of KBI Energy Group. The signature follows the Reservation Agreement signed in the last part of 2023, which provided for the customer's pre-emption of the production lines to guarantee extremely rapid delivery times.

The signing of the contract is part of a process of consolidation and growth of not only industrial but also institutional relations, in a broader context of collaboration between the two countries.

In fact, on 18 January 2024 - in the presence of the President of the Kazakh Republic Qasym-Jomart Tokayev and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani - Fabrizio Fabbri, CEO of Ansaldo Energia and Kairat Maksutov, President of Samruk Energy, the Kazakh state electricity company, signed a cooperation agreement to promote new future combined cycle power plant projects in Kazakhstan and foster the exchange of technological skills and the training of local experts by Ansaldo Energia.

In this context, the "Reconstruction of Almaty CHPP-3" project includes the construction of a modern combined cycle power plant powered by natural gas, for which Ansaldo Energia will supply two AE94.2 gas turbines, two generators and all associated auxiliary services. This project will allow the customer to produce electricity in a more sustainable way and at lower costs.

Already designed for the use of H2 up to 40% mixed with natural gas, with more than 120 units installed worldwide and 9 million hours of cumulated operation time, the AE94.2 has demonstrated excellent results in terms of efficiency and operational reliability.

“The signing of this contract is a proof of the customer's great trust in our skills and capabilities, supported by the excellence of the Italian supply chain,” said Fabrizio Fabbri, CEO of Ansaldo Energia. “I am particularly pleased that the launch of this project takes place simultaneously with the creation of a technological hub for training and skills exchange, which will help consolidate our relationships with Kazakhstan in the years to come.”
