Morocco to dedicate 1 MM hectares to green H2 projects

(Reuters)--The Moroccan government has announced plans to allocate 1 MM hectares of land for green H2 projects. The initiative aims to attract investors by offering incentives for integrated projects that generate electricity from renewable energies and convert green H2 into various fuels. The first phase of the project will cover 300,000 hectares.

The government stated that the project will help Morocco become a major player in the global energy transition. Already, over 100 investors have expressed interest in producing green H2 in Morocco, capitalizing on the country's abundant sun and wind. Morocco aims to increase the share of renewable energy in its installed capacity to 52% by 2030 from the current 37.6%.
