The Spanish government has approved the development of a H₂-electric high-speed train. This train will reduce pollution generated by trains that rely on diesel generators. It will be retrofitted with H₂ fuel cells and batteries, capable of running up to 155 mph.

The project will also involve developing two H₂ refueling stations. Although the usage of H₂ power is still experimental, it is cleaner than traditional energy sources. This project is part of a more extensive program by the Spanish government to invest in cleaner energy sources. However, no information is yet on when the train will be operational.
