The Spanish government has approved the development of a H2-electric high-speed train. This train will reduce pollution generated by trains that rely on diesel generators. It will be retrofitted with H2 fuel cells and batteries, capable of running up to 155 mph.
The project will also involve developing two H2 refueling stations. Although the usage of H2 power is still experimental, it is cleaner than traditional energy sources. This project is part of a more extensive program by the Spanish government to invest in cleaner energy sources. However, no information is yet on when the train will be operational.
