Brazilian power distributor Eletrobras has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government of Maranhao state to collaborate on producing green H₂. The agreement involves working together on renewable energy and its derivatives, with Eletrobras committing to supply green energy from its hydropower plants and transmission lines.

This follows another recent MoU between Eletrobras and engineering consultant Paul Wurth do Brasil, focusing on constructing and operating a 10-MW plant for green H₂ and oxygen production.
