Opening of first H2 bus depot in Germany

Everfuel A/S announced the opening of the H2 refueling station at the Frankfurt municipal bus company In-der-City-Bus’ (ICB) bus depot in Germany.

The depot station is owned by the bus operator ICB and will service 23 zero emission fuel cell buses used for daily city and municipal public transportation. Everfuel developed and constructed the refueling station and will supply H2 to ICB on a minimum three-year contract. The H2 will be delivered by Everfuel’s H2 trailers.

“We are pleased to celebrate the inauguration of ICB’s refueling station. The opening is an important step in Everfuel’s ambition to make H2 available for heavy-duty mobility fleets starting in Germany,” said Lars Jakobsen, Sales Director of Everfuel. “ICB is at the forefront, pioneering the transition. I would like to extend my gratitude to ICB, which has been a treasured partner in development of the refueling station, and I look forward to the continued cooperation.”

Supplying H2 to heavy-duty mobility applications is part of Everfuel’s strategy to develop large-scale production of green H2 in Denmark and supply customers across Europe, starting with Germany. It is the second dedicated bus station built by Everfuel and a key part of the strategy of providing clean energy solutions for public transportation, supporting Frankfurt’s transition to zero-emission buses. ICB’s H2 depot station has capacity for refueling at least 23 fuel cell buses daily and has potential to scale capacity as demand grows.

Following the opening of the ICB station, Everfuel is supplying H2 to two dedicated bus stations with Wuppertal bus station in Germany as the next station to be added to the portfolio.
