German renewables developer PNE aims to construct a massive 1-GW green H2 project in Albacete, central Spain, with an estimated cost of €3 B. The project, managed by its Spanish subsidiary Kolya-PNE, has secured land rights and water supply in the arid region.
Presented to the Castilla-La Mancha region's minister of sustainable development, Mercedes Gómez, the project is now undergoing consultation with regional government and local city councils. PNE, renowned for its 6.5-GW wind power projects across Europe, North America, and South Africa, acquired a majority stake in Spanish solar developer Kolya in 2022, boasting 1.4 GW of solar projects.
