Uniper's green H2 strategy takes shape at Wilhelmshaven port

Uniper, a German utility, is focusing on several key initiatives following EU approval for its clean energy projects in Wilhelmshaven. These include transforming the port into a hub for importing ammonia-carrying H2 and developing H2 storage facilities to support decarbonization efforts.

Key partnerships, such as with steelmaker Salzgitter, aim to deliver significant amounts of green H2, with plans for an electrolysis plant and H2 pipeline underway. Uniper's strategy also involves transitioning its natural gas operations to H2 to meet climate targets, leveraging previously used gas storage sites for H2 storage, aiming for substantial capacity by 2030.
