Uniper, a German utility, is focusing on several key initiatives following EU approval for its clean energy projects in Wilhelmshaven. These include transforming the port into a hub for importing ammonia-carrying H₂ and developing H₂ storage facilities to support decarbonization efforts.

Key partnerships, such as with steelmaker Salzgitter, aim to deliver significant amounts of green H₂, with plans for an electrolysis plant and H₂ pipeline underway. Uniper's strategy also involves transitioning its natural gas operations to H₂ to meet climate targets, leveraging previously used gas storage sites for H₂ storage, aiming for substantial capacity by 2030.
