bp plans to build five to ten low-carbon H₂ projects this decade to create clean fuels and cut greenhouse gas emissions. The green H₂, made via electrolysis with renewable energy, will be used for sustainable aviation fuel and to decarbonize bp's refining processes.

The company has approved a H₂ project at its Castellon refinery in Spain and is moving forward with a second project at its Lingen refinery in Germany, with initial projects set to start in Europe.
