ADNOC and ExxonMobil to partner in world’s largest low-carbon H2 facility

Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, oversaw the signing of an agreement for ADNOC to acquire a 35% stake in ExxonMobil’s proposed low-carbon H2 and ammonia production facility in Baytown, Texas. This significant investment aims to boost the U.S. energy sector and aid the global energy transition by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and meeting the demand for lower-carbon fuels.

The facility, potentially the world's largest of its kind, will produce up to 1 Bft3d of low-carbon H2 and over 1 metric MMtpy of low-carbon ammonia, using advanced carbon capture technologies. Expected to start in 2029, the project will create jobs, support local development, and contribute to ADNOC’s global growth strategy. Both ADNOC and ExxonMobil are committed to leveraging this partnership for environmental, social and economic benefits.
