EBARA to construct full-scale equipment testing and development center fully equipped with liquid H2 pump testing facilities

EBARA Corporation will establish a new equipment testing and development center for H2 infrastructure-related equipment in Futtsu City, Chiba Prefecture, Japan, to contribute to the realization of a H2 society.

Amid the global trend toward decarbonization, H2, which does not emit CO2 when burned, is expected to play a key role in addressing climate change. The EBARA Group is working to apply its technologies and businesses Groupwide to implement the production, transport and use of H2 throughout society. Ebara has already launched a liquid H2 booster pump and are marketing it around the world.

This center is designed to conduct equipment performance tests and develop elemental technologies using liquid H2 (actual liquid) to ensure that liquid H2 pumps, which are indispensable for the construction of H2 supply chains in Japan and other countries around the world, can be implemented in society. This center will be the world's first full-scale commercial product testing facility for liquid H2 pumps using actual liquid.

To ensure the safe and stable operation of our liquid H2 pumps for customers, quality assurance through performance testing using actual liquid H2 at -253°C is indispensable. This center will enable us to conduct product performance tests and elemental technology development using actual liquid H2 at full-scale, contributing to the advancement of our H2 infrastructure-related business. Furthermore, it will also contribute to the development of H2-related technologies for domestic and overseas companies aiming to build H2 supply chains.

EBARA aims to grow its H2 infrastructure-related business as a new pillar of its operations, aiming to achieve revenue of $213 MM in 2030 and over $1.4 B in 2040. The new test center will contribute to the construction of a global H2 supply chain and will contribute to the realization of a H2 society and carbon neutrality by 2050.

The EBARA Group aims to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by addressing material issues identified in its long-term vision and executing the medium-term management plan to increase corporate value.
