EVIA AERO expands leadership team and advances fleet development

EVIA AERO has expanded its management team and is positioning itself for the next phase of the company’s development. Effective 1 January 2025, Axel Trampnau has taken on the role of Director Finance & Controlling, moving from the Advisory Board to the operational management team of the EVIA Group. In addition, EVIA AERO has reached an agreement with British manufacturer BrittenNorman for the purchase of 15 H2-powered, zero-emission aircraft.

Axel Trampnau brings extensive expertise in the aviation industry as well as in finance and business management. For more than 20 years, he held management positions at various companies in the industry, such as within the Lufthansa Group and as part of the management of various airlines like Germania. From these positions, Axel Trampnau contributes in-depth knowledge of the industry, particularly in regional and sustainability-oriented flight operations. Since February 2023, he has been closely supporting EVIA AERO’s journey as a member of the Advisory Board.

“EVIA AERO pursues a visionary and holistic approach to sustainable aviation,” said Axel Trampnau. “I look forward to contributing to the further development of the company in an operational role.”

Vanessa Haumberger succeeds Axel Trampnau on the Advisory Board of EVIA AERO. She is the Managing Partner of GAULY, a leading consultancy for strategy and communications, and brings extensive experience and a broad network in the aviation sector. Haumberger spent almost 20 years in senior positions at Munich Airport, most recently as Head of Politics and Regional Affairs and Deputy Head of Communications. At GAULY, she runs the Brussels office and oversees public affairs activities.

In the beginning of 2025, EVIA AERO signed a letter of intent with the British aircraft manufacturer Britten-Norman for the purchase of 15 new Islander aircraft. This model has proven its reliability over many years, particularly on short-haul flights. Scheduled for delivery from 2027, the aircraft will subsequently be converted to zero-emission H2-based propulsion systems. In addition, the aircraft interiors will be redesigned to improve passenger comfort.

“I am delighted with the reinforcement of the EVIA AERO team,” said Florian Kruse, CEO of EVIA AERO. “From their respective positions, Axel Trampnau and Vanessa Haumberger will provide valuable impulses for our further development. The agreement with Britten-Norman is a milestone in the growth of our company and a strong signal for the future of zero-emission aviation.”
