Enapter AG is expanding its product range and is now offering supporting battery solutions from its joint venture partner Wolong under the Enapter brand in addition to its own multicore electrolyzers. Lithium-ion batteries from the Chinese partner Zhejiang Wolong Energy Storage System Co., Ltd. with a capacity from 150 KW up to several megawatts are used.

The entire system is controlled by Enapter’s energy management system, which includes the energy-generating system as well as the battery components and the electrolyzer. This enables companies to make even better use of the high potential of renewable energies, reduce production and storage costs for green energy and maximize output in the production of H₂.

The combination of battery technology and H₂ production increases the continuous stability of the energy supply and makes conscious use of energy peaks. As the battery releases or absorbs energy as required, the electrolyzer can be operated more efficiently overall under optimized conditions. In addition, the batteries ensure load balancing by storing excess energy from renewable energy sources (such as solar and wind energy) at peak times and then using this energy as required to operate the electrolyzer with a time delay when energy production is low, but demand is high. This means that offpeak times can also be used for H₂ production that cannot actually be supplied with energy from fluctuating energy sources.
