Intelligent Energy and IBT sign collaboration agreement to develop 100-kW H2 fuel cell generator for Korean market

Intelligent Energy, a leading UK-based fuel cell technology company, and IBT, a South Korean energy solutions/battery provider, announced the signing of a collaboration agreement to jointly develop a 100-kW H2 fuel cell-based generator, certified for the Korean market.

The agreement marks a significant step forward in the strategic partnership between the two companies and aligns with South Korea’s national commitment to H2 energy and carbon neutrality. The new 100-kW fuel cell generator will be based on Intelligent Energy’s evaporatively cooled IE-DRIVE fuel cell technology and tailored to meet local certification requirements and performance standards in Korea.

“Partnering with IBT allows us to bring our zero-emission technology to one of the most forward-thinking H2 markets in the world and offer a practical solution for zero-emission power, for off-grid and backup power applications,” said Greg Harris, CCO of Intelligent Energy.

“This collaboration will utilize the benefits of our high-power fuel cell systems to provide solutions for growing markets for clean, scalable power solutions.”

IBT brings extensive expertise in the Korean energy market and will lead local integration, certification, and distribution efforts. The collaboration aims to provide commercial and industrial customers in South Korea with a robust alternative to traditional diesel generators, supporting cleaner energy infrastructures and reducing harmful emissions.

The 100-kW generator will target applications in critical infrastructure, remote power, and backup systems, and will be ready for certification and initial deployment in 2026.

This collaboration underscores both companies’ commitment to advancing H2 fuel cell technology and expanding its role in the global transition to sustainable energy.
