CPH2 has announced a pivotal moment in its journey towards commercialization. The company has signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Constant Energy, an Irish-based energy developer, marking a significant step forward in the commerciality phase of the company’s membrane-free technology.

The future of green H₂ production is taking shape in County Mayo, Ireland. Mayo County Council has recently granted Limerick-based Constant Energy Ltd. planning permission for the Killala Energy Hub, a H₂ and energy center. This proposed site, which will link wind and solar energy production in the vicinity to Constant Energy’s site, has the potential to become a major hub to produce green H₂ using CPH2’s MFE technology. The H₂ produced will be utilized for export to the surrounding gas grid and will supply a H₂ filling station servicing fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs).

In accordance with the MoU, discussions will now commence to agree terms of a sale and purchase agreement (SPA), which would see Constant Energy initially purchase five 1-MW MFE220 units from CPH2 to be operational between 2027 and 2028. This is just the beginning of our partnership. Constant Energy and CPH2 would also enter discussions as soon as possible to secure up to 200 MW of capacity at the County Mayo site over the next 10 yr, showing the potential for significant growth in our collaboration.

The H₂ plant will be located to the south of the site at the Old Ashai Plant, Killala Business Park, Killala and will consist of a double story electrolyzer building to house the MFE220 units.
