CPH2 has announced the submission of its first manufacturing and design license documentation to Lisheen H2 Energy Park Limited, which trades under the name Hidrigin. This submission enables Hidrigin and its appointed manufacturing partner, Jones Engineering Manufacturing Limited (Jones Engineering), a company renowned for its expertise in the field, to initiate preparations to produce MFE220 electrolyzers in Ireland under the existing 2-GW license agreement. The comprehensive license package comprises a process, mechanical, electrical, and safety design package, a bill of materials with every part defined, and a 3D layout for the electrolyzer and all sub-assemblies.
This event marks a significant commercial milestone for CPH2 as it activates its first manufacturing licensee and advances its capital-light licensing model. This model, which minimizes the company’s capital investment in manufacturing facilities, allows CPH2 to focus on its core competencies in technology development and licensing, thereby accelerating the deployment of its electrolyzer technology.
Jon Duffy, CEO of Clean Power H2, commented, “Activating our first licensee through the submission of this license package to Hidrigin is a pivotal step in our commercialization strategy. Our licensing model allows us to scale quickly and efficiently while leveraging the strengths of local partners. We are excited to support Hidrigin and Jones Engineering as they move towards production of the MFE220, and we look forward to further progress with our additional licensees during the course of 2025.”
Under the 20-yr license, Hidrigin intends to deploy MFE220 electrolyzers across its solar PV and wind projects in Ireland. With the submission of the license pack, meticulous preparation activities are now underway by Hidrigin and Jones Engineering, which include staff training, supplier engagement, and planning for the production facility. Production is strategically scheduled to commence in Q4 2025, with the first units expected to be operational in 2026.
Eric Whelan, CEO of Hidrigin, commented, “Receiving the license package from CPH2 is a major milestone in our mission to deliver green H2. The technical depth and clarity of the materials give us full confidence as we begin preparations with our partners at Jones Engineering. We aim to commence production in Q4 2025 and deploy our first unit in 2026. This is the beginning of our ambition to link renewable energy with sustainable H2 production in Ireland and beyond.”
