Extreme H shortlisted for award for pioneering H2 innovation

Extreme H has been shortlisted for the Climate for Good award at the 2025 Global Good Awards, in recognition of its groundbreaking collaboration with ENOWA, the championship’s official green hydrogen partner.

Founded in 2015 by sustainability advocate Karen Sutton, the Global Good Awards celebrate organizations of all sizes around the world that are setting new standards in purpose-driven sustainability and ethical leadership. The awards spotlight leaders delivering practical, scalable solutions to real-world challenges, who not only walk the talk, but inspire others to do the same.

Extreme H's nomination comes as a result of its successful delivery of hydrogen-powered innovation in its predecessor series, Extreme E. In 2024, at the Hydro X Prix in Scotland, Extreme E powered 80% of its race site using ENOWA’s Hydrogen Fuel Cell system, a critical milestone on the journey to a fully hydrogen-powered racing championship.

This innovative solution, which is replacing the championship’s use of Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil with green hydrogen, demonstrates the real-world potential of hydrogen as a clean, scalable energy source in high-demand environments. As Extreme H prepares to make history as the world’s first hydrogen-powered motorsport series, its partnership with ENOWA continues to push the boundaries of clean energy deployment in sport and beyond.

Ali Russell, Managing Director of Extreme H, said, “We’re incredibly proud to be shortlisted for the Climate for Good Award. Our work with ENOWA is a shining example of how sport and science can work together to accelerate sustainable innovation. From our milestone in Scotland, to the continued development of hydrogen fuel cell technology for Extreme H’s debut, this journey represents a bold step toward a zero-emission future.”

Extreme H’s nomination places it alongside some of the world’s most forward-thinking organizations driving meaningful change through climate action. Winners of the 2025 Global Good Awards will be announced at a ceremony on the 24th of September.
