Chinese hydrogen technology company Beijing SinoHytec has signed a strategic alliance with Pengfei Group, a local energy, chemicals, and heavy equipment company, to accelerate the development and deployment of hydrogen fuel cell technologies in commercial vehicles.

The collaboration will focus on joint R&D and establishing large-scale production facilities for hydrogen fuel cell systems in Lüliang, Shanxi Province, aiming to position the city as a national hub for hydrogen-powered heavy truck manufacturing.

Pengfei Group already operates a full hydrogen supply chain—including production, storage, transport, and refueling—alongside a fleet of 70,000 heavy-duty trucks. The partnership will begin with the introduction of 100 hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks and 250 logistics vehicles into Pengfei’s fleet. SinoHytec will supply its advanced fuel cell systems, while Pengfei will expand hydrogen refueling infrastructure and develop a digital validation platform to test the efficiency and reliability of hydrogen-powered vehicles.
