Genevos and SSB Green Enviro collaborate for large-scale H2 solutions deployment across India

SSBI Group of Companies and its division SSB Green Enviro Pvt. Ltd., based in Ahmedabad - India delivers end-to-end green H2 solutions including production plants, storage and fueling infrastructure, and fuel cell systems for transportation and industrial applications. This Letter of Intent (LoI) marks a pivotal step towards transforming the Indian maritime sector with scalable, clean energy technologies.

Genevos brings mature, fully integrated marine certified H2 fuel cell power solutions, ranging from compact low power solutions with their HPM-40 kW to high-power solutions such as the HPM-250 kW. The modular, plug-and-play nature of Genevos’ solutions ensures rapid integration with minimal disruption.

This LoI affirms the shared commitment of both organizations to decarbonize maritime transport through H2 deployment. Genevos’ proven track record spanning collaborations with European ports, award-winning zero emission systems, and recognition from class societies positions the company as an ideal technology partner.

The scope of collaboration will span across multiple vessel types from harbor and coastal workboats (pilot vessel, tugboats etc.) to passenger ferries and potentially light cargo vessels, tailored for Indian maritime environments. The immediate next steps include feasibility studies, technical design, and pilot deployments as of 2026, with multiple vessels as of 2027.

"We are honored that SSB Green Enviro has chosen Genevos to help usher India’s maritime sector into a clean H2-powered future," said Rebecca Sharp, CEO of Genevos. "The maritime industry stands at the crossroads of history: either remain anchored to fossil fuels or embrace H2 as a catalyst for change. This agreement reflects a collective determination to achieve the ambitions of the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals. Together, Genevos and SSB Green Enviro will not only deliver cleaner vessels but also inspire systemic change across global shipping. Our shared work in India will become a flagship project demonstrating how climate action, economic growth, and technological leadership are mutually reinforcing."

Mr. Saptarshi Simlai, Director of SSBI Group commented, " This collaboration with Genevos marks a significant milestone in our mission to accelerate the H2 economy in India, in alignment with the Government of India’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives. At SSB Green Enviro, we are dedicated to delivering integrated green H2 solutions that address India’s critical energy and environmental challenges. By combining our indigenous expertise, manufacturing capabilities, and infrastructure with Genevos’ proven marine H2 technology, we aim to localize and scale up clean maritime innovations tailored for Indian conditions. This partnership goes beyond deploying H2-powered vessels, it represents a strategic step toward building a self-reliant and sustainable maritime ecosystem that champions innovation, strengthens energy independence, and advances India’s climate resilience goals.”
