Japan Susio Energy Co., Ltd. (JSE) has decided to accept capital contributions from six companies in various industrial sectors to accelerate the development of a liquefied H2 supply chain. The following companies are participating in this investment:
JSE plays a central role in the commercialization demonstration of the liquefied H2 supply chain under the Green Innovation Fund Project promoted by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), a national research and development agency. The company is pushing forward with building a supply chain for the production, transportation, and supply of liquefied H2.
H2 is attracting attention as a key energy source for achieving a decarbonized society, as it generates only water when burned and does not emit carbon dioxide. However, to safely and efficiently transport H2 produced in large quantities overseas in liquid form at -253°C and ensure stable domestic supply, large-scale infrastructure development is required.
To address these challenges, JSE is bringing together technologies related to the production, transportation, storage, and supply of liquefied H2. The company aims to complete the commercialization demonstration project by fiscal year 2030 and to begin full-scale construction and operation of the H2 supply chain thereafter.
Through this new round of investment, JSE will contribute to achieving the Japanese government's H2 adoption targets and continue its efforts toward realizing a carbon-neutral society by 2050.
