Metier Technologies launches European operations from Italy to drive hydrogen fleet decarbonization

Metier Technologies announced the launch of Metier Technologies Europe, headquartered in Turin, Italy. The new European entity marks the company’s entry into the continental market and will drive development of its hydrogen internal combustion engine (H2ICE) repower technology for commercial fleets across Europe.

The expansion comes as Metier strengthens its presence across both the UK and European hydrogen ecosystems. The company will also showcase its latest hydrogen engine and technology platform at Hydrogen Technology World Expo in Hamburg, Germany, next week, engaging directly with hydrogen producers, refueling partners and fleet operators from across the region.

Metier’s European strategy focuses on repowering DAF LF and Iveco Eurocargo vehicles, providing fleet operators with a cost-effective route to decarbonization. By converting existing diesel trucks to run on hydrogen, Metier enables operators to achieve zero-emission performance and access to Low and Ultra Low Emission Zones, without compromising range or payload.

At the heart of Metier’s model is a partnership-driven approach - working alongside fleets, hydrogen producers and refueling providers to secure competitively priced hydrogen, enabling total cost of ownership (TCO) at parity with diesel through its repower solutions.

James Budgett, Managing Director of Metier Technologies, commented: “Launching Metier Technologies Europe in Turin marks a significant step in building our presence across the mainland European hydrogen landscape. Our aim is to put the Metier name in front of as many hydrogen suppliers as possible, communicating Metier’s partnership model that delivers offtake for hydrogen producers plus competitively priced hydrogen and a diesel-level TCO for repowered fleets. Alongside our participation at Hydrogen Technology World Expo next week in Hamburg, this expansion underscores our ambition to make hydrogen-powered commercial transport a practical reality today.”

David Caponi, Chairman of Metier Technologies Europe, added: “Turin provides the ideal foothold to expand our European operations, connecting us with both leading vehicle OEMs and an emerging hydrogen supply chain. We’re already engaging regional partners to support fleet decarbonization through repowering, helping operators meet emissions targets quickly and cost-effectively.”

Metier’s H2ICE solution delivers:

  • Lower total cost of ownership compared with battery-electric or fuel-cell vehicles in heavy-duty applications
  • Strong performance for longer duty cycles and heavier payloads
  • Zero-emission operation, unlocking access to low and zero-emission zones

Metier’s international expansion builds on its growing profile as a leader in practical hydrogen mobility solutions, offering fleet operators immediate and scalable pathways to zero emissions.
