RCT Hydrogen receives order for 10-MW project at Sines Port in Portugal

RCT Hydrogen received purchase order and final investment decision for a 10-MW electrolyzer turnkey project at Sines Port in Portugal.

After an intensive and detailed proposal phase the final investment decision was made at the beginning of July: RCT Hydrogen will deliver a 10-MW turnkey Electrolyzer for the Green Hydrogen Sines project and the project development company BeyondGreen. The total project volume for RCT Hydrogen covers full supply of all project components to connect the electrolyzer to the mid-voltage grid and produce hydrogen based on renewable electricity.

“The project fits perfect to the RCT Hydrogen portfolio,” said Dr. Eric Rüland, VP Sales and Products of RCT Hydrogen. “A robust alkaline-electrolyzer technology with efficient and reliable production of Hydrogen under the sunny Portuguese environment.”

The proven technology used in RCT Hydrogen’s systems is known as alkaline pressure electrolysis and is recognized as a durable and efficient technology. Thanks to the high-quality standards of a premium German manufacturer and TÜV-certified technology, the first European customers have been persuaded to start hydrogen production for the reduction of CO2 emission in manufacturing processes.

The promoter of the 10-MW electrolyzer project within the framework of the Sines Green Hydrogen Valley (SinesH2GValley) is Beyond Green Lda a Portuguese company specialized in the energy sector, including green hydrogen generation, storage and use. The final investment decision was an important step forward to realize this important milestone.

Chairman of Beyond Green Miguel Matias mentioned, “we are happy to sign the turn-key contract with our partner RCT GH as a reliable supplier not only for the equipment, but as well commissioning and start-up of the green hydrogen production. The timeframe for starting shipment still in 2026 and having production start in summer 2027 is challenging, but achievable with the right partners.”

In addition to the hydrogen production activities, this agenda also includes development of critical downstream infrastructure, namely a network of green hydrogen refueling stations and ultra-fast electric vehicle charging points powered by renewable electricity with H2-storage and fuel-cell. This integrated approach addresses two major challenges in the energy transition: the limited availability of hydrogen refueling infrastructure and the growing demand for high-performance electric vehicle charging networks.

This cost-effective production of green hydrogen is also made possible by the use of highly cost-optimized production equipment. In this regard, RCT Hydrogen benefits from its partner Guofuhee, a supplier of key components with years of experience in the production of hydrogen equipment. RCT Hydrogen has established successful partnerships across the entire value chain, with the key manufacturing steps planned to take place in Germany and Europe.
