Hydrogen realities are hitting Africa’s export push, with a lack of firm offtake agreements, insufficient pipeline infrastructure and a nascent local supply chain raising doubts over how quickly projects can move from plans to final investment decisions.

Plug Power announced it has successfully installed a 5-MW GenEco electrolyzer system for Cleanergy Solutions Namibia's groundbreaking green hydrogen project.

The pullback is the latest example of companies reconsidering investments in a nascent technology that is expensive to develop.

Scheduled to commence operation in the first quarter of 2027, the project will advance decarbonization objectives through the deployment of hydrogen-based solutions across various sectors.
