Johnson Matthey (JM) has officially opened its first H₂ internal combustion engine (H₂ICE) facility, where cutting-edge emission control systems will be tested.

HyOrc Corporation has announced a significant commercial milestone for its Portuguese green methanol project, reinforcing the value proposition of its European strategy.

The European Commission has approved a €1.5 billion Italian State aid scheme to support strategic investments that add clean technologies (cleantech) manufacturing capacity, in line with the objectives of the Clean Industrial Deal.

Led by EMEC, the demonstration successfully integrated three technologies—Orbital Marine Power’s O₂ tidal turbine, vanadium flow batteries supplied by Invinity Energy Systems, and an ITM Power 670 kW electrolyzer—at EMEC’s onshore site on the island of Eday.

The milestone was achieved Wednesday at Network Rail’s Test Tracks* site in Tuxford, where freight operator Freightliner hauled a train of gas containers from Doncaster to High Marnham – marking Britain’s first shipment of hydrogen by rail.

The German company Hy2gen has secured a strategic site in Vihreäsaari, at the Port of Oulu in northern Finland, for the development of a new facility to produce renewable hydrogen and synthetic fuels.

Plug Power announced it has signed a letter of intent (LOI) with Hy2gen for a 5-MW PEM electrolyzer to be installed at Sunrhyse, Hy2gen’s flagship hydrogen production project in Signes, France.

The partnership will focus on scaling up hydrogen use across key regions, including Europe, South Korea and the United States, with specific emphasis on heavy-duty transport, logistics and public transportation.

Together, these opportunities mark a major step forward in achieving the EU's climate and energy objectives by 2030 and climate neutrality by 2050.

The HGHH project plans to start commercial operations in the second half of 2027. Around 10,000 tpy of green hydrogen are set to be produced in Moorburg in the future.
