DNV on rising to the challenge of a hydrogen economy

This week, we talk with Jorg Aarnes, Global Lead for Hydrogen and CCS at DNV, about the findings of DNV's recent report, "Rising to the challenge of a hydrogen economy." The report surveyed 1,100 senior energy professionals on their companies' current and anticipated future investments in H2 technology application and revenues from the sector. We also discuss the technical limitations and opportunities for H2 technology and its synergies with electrification.

H2 policies for a clean energy future for Australia

In this episode of H2TechTalk we get in conversation with Dr. Fiona Simon, CEO of Australian Hydrogen Council, about AHC’s work towards creating a clean energy future for Australia. We discuss AHC’s projects for creating demand that will drive market dynamics, forging collaborations across the hydrogen value chain, and developing best policies and regulations to build a strong hydrogen ecosystem.

Large-scale, zero-emissions blue H2 for decarbonization

This episode of H2TechTalk examines H2 production technology and CCUS solutions with Torkild Reinertsen, Chairman & Market Lead for Hydrogen at REINERTSEN New Energy and HYDROGEN Mem-Tech. We discuss the advantages of zero-emissions blue H2 technology in the context of a market study for the production and transport of H2 based on Norwegian natural gas, as well as the cost factors and applications of blue H2 vs. green H2 for decarbonization.

Texas makes strides to grow into global H2 hub

On this episode of H2TechTalk, we chat with Andy Steinhubl, Vice Chair of the Board for The Center for Houston's Future, about the opportunities and challenges for Texas in becoming a regional and global hydrogen hub in light of the ongoing energy transition. We also discuss the growth of blue hydrogen projects in the Gulf Coast region, as well as questions surrounding intermittent renewable power sources for green hydrogen projects. The Center for Houston's Future and the Greater Houston Partnership will hold The Future of Global Energy Conference from June 29–July 1 to discuss several of these topics.

Japan, Australia forge a path for Asia-Pacific H2 development

This episode of H2TechTalk dives into the Regional Report on Asia-Pacific from H2Tech’s Q2 issue, published in May. Asia-Pacific is forecast to be the fastest-growing region in hydrogen to 2025, as governments continue to adopt green technologies to meet national targets for carbon emissions reduction. Estimated potential demand for imported hydrogen in China, Japan, South Korea and Singapore could reach $9.5 B by 2030. Japan and Australia are the regional leaders in hydrogen projects and synergies, although China is working at a rapid pace to expand its hydrogen infrastructure.

Linde pushes H2 to the forefront with project collaborators

In this episode of H2TechTalk, we chat with Dr. Philip Severin, Senior Director of Business Development for Linde Clean Hydrogen, about Linde's numerous H2 technology projects, including its refueling station networks in the EU and its H2 liquefiers in South Korea. We also talk about Linde's H2 technology collaborations with Daimler Trucks, ITM Power (via ITM Linde Electrolysis), and Alstom.

Ramping up hydrogen capacity ahead of net-zero targets

In this episode of H2TechTalk, we chat with Fabian Kapp, Managing Director of Graebener Maschinentechnik, about the technology behind the manufacturing of bipolar plates, a critical equipment component of electrolyzers and fuel cells. We also discuss the future market for electrolyzer-produced green hydrogen amid net-zero carbon targets set to be reached in 2050.

Hydrogen poised for growth as cargo and marine fuel

This episode of H2TechTalk is a reading of an article from our Q2 issue of H2Tech, published in May. This article, which focuses on marine applications for hydrogen, is by Sotirios Mamalis, Manager of Sustainability for Fuels and Technology at ABS in Houston, Texas.

Deploying green H2 at scale for multi-sectoral decarbonization

In this episode of H2TechTalk, we chat with Janice Lin, Founder and President of the Green Hydrogen Coalition (GHC), about the GHC's involvement in the Intermountain Power Project in Utah, which will convert Utah's largest coal-fired power plant to 100% H2 fuel by 2045. We also discuss the GHC's new Western Green Hydrogen Initiative to promote green H2 networks in U.S. member states and Canadian member provinces.

The roles of H2 and CO2 capture in today's decarbonization efforts

In this episode of H2TechTalk, we chat with Elizabeth Carter, Senior Business Manager for Clean Hydrogen Initiative at Honeywell UOP, about methods for emissions reduction from the steam methane reforming process, as well as blue H2 production technology for process decarbonization and clean energy use.
